Giving an in-depth look at the Multiverse Saga and the possibilities for future animated series, Winderbaum said, “I think what’s amazing about the Multiverse Saga in particular is that you can take a lot more roads. We’ve been experimenting for a long time at the studio with how to tell stories that unfold in a linear fashion, but also go back in time, and be able to show how the MCU can flourish in the past. But what the multiverse does, it allows us to look at alternate paths and other takes on characters, which is, of course, what happens in comics when different artists, different writers, different storytellers work with characters. You see them develop and grow in unforeseen and unexpected ways. And that’s something that guides us as we do more animated projects.

Also, just because “I Am Groot” is connected to every feature film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe doesn’t mean every character from the “Guardians of the Galaxy” franchise has to appear in every Groot story.

Winderbaum also highlighted the fun part of doing shows like these and said, “It’s fun to see what he’s doing when nobody’s watching. Like a real child, that’s where he has the most trouble – when he’s just outside the realm of the parents’ eyes. This is one of the shorts you identify with, or at least I identify with. You watch it and I remember what it was like to be a kid, and the other side of me is, Oh, that’s what it’s like to be a parent, to watch a kid and worry that he’s going to do something terrible.
