Keanu Reeves shares his thoughts on playing Batman in live-action after voicing him in new DC movie

Over the years, we’ve seen a solid lineup of actors don the Batman cape and cowl in the movies, from Michael Keaton to the recent addition of Robert Pattinson. The Dark Knight’s latest big-screen appearance is a bit different than what moviegoers are used to. Keanu Reeves will voice Batman in the 3D animated family film, DC Super Pet League. It makes us think this: Would we also want to see Reeves as Batman in live action? Well, the actor shared some thoughts on that.

Many have probably pondered how Keanu Reeves would fare as the live-action Batman. The fan-favorite star was asked about his interest in wearing the sacred Batsuit to play a new iteration of the Caped Crusader. As he walked the red carpet to DC League of Super PetsReves said:

I love Batman as a character and I love him in the comics, in the movies, so having the opportunity to voice – to play – Batman was awesome. … It was always a dream, but [Robert] Pattinson has Batman right now and he’s doing great. Maybe later, maybe when they need an older Batman…

It’s no surprise that Keanu Reeves is a huge Batman fan, and his enthusiasm is nice to see. I mean, he even said in addition, it was actually a “dream” to play Batman on the big screen. However, the actor reminded the interviewer that at the moment, Robert Pattinson is the actor playing the hero of DC, Warner Bros. even bringing him and writer/director Matt Reeves back for a sequel to The Batman. So the Matrix icon isn’t pinning his hopes or our hopes down on a hard “yes,” but he’s totally open to it down the road.

There are actually a lot of Batman actors in play right now on the next dc movie ahead too, even with Robert Pattinson returning to his role after The Batmanis success. Ben Affleck and Michael Keaton’s version of the hero is part of the flash cast, a film that should be released in theaters next summer. In addition, Keaton will again play Bruce Wayne for the bat girl film with Leslie Grace as Barbara Gordon.

Even so, maybe ultimately Keanu Reeves could become another iteration of the Batman? Over the years, it’s certainly been proven that this hero can be interpreted and achieved in many ways, between the campy and somewhat corny version of Adam West and the ultra-dark version of Christian Bale directed by Christopher Nolan. Needless to say, there’s room for all kinds of bats on the big screen.

Additionally, when Keanu Reeves was announced as DC League of Super Pets‘ Batman, The internet was super happy with it., so there would probably be interest if he did a live spin. The John Wick The actor definitely has a Batman voice that matches the beloved character. While starring in the film, Reeves’ voice joins actual friends Kevin Hart and Dwayne Johnson who reunited after Jumanji to play as Superman and Batman’s canine pets. The cast list also includes John Krasinski, Kate McKinnon, Vanessa Bayer, Olivia Wilde and more. You can check out the DC animated film in theaters on July 29. We’ll see if Reeves’ performance earns him a live-action stint as the Dark Knight.
