The W.C. Handy Blues Awards recipients have been announced by The Blues Foundation. The 23rd Annual W.C. Handy Awards ceremony took place Thursday, May 23, 2002, at the historic Orpheum Theater in Memphis, Tennessee.

The National Academy of Recording Arts & Sciences has announced its GRAMMY Award winners for the Best Traditional Blues Album and Best Contemporary Blues Album of 2001.
