Atlanta photographer Jimmy Stratton visited Jack Owens at his home in
Bentonia, Mississippi, in the early afternoon of Thursday, Sept. 26, 1996.
"We stopped at an old store and asked about him. One man came
forward and was tellin' me how to get there, when a red truck drove by.
'That's his neighbor there,' he said. 'Just follow that truck.' "
"He was in his own truck when we drove up. Said he was goin'
to town to see a woman. The photo where he's sittin' and
you see his feet -- check out the pistol in his boot!"
