Revive heritage sites, enhance the aesthetic appeal of Gulmarg: Sarmad
Secretary, Tourism and Culture, Sarmad Hafeez reviewed the condition and quality of facilities and equipment at the world-famous tourist resort of Gulmarg during an officers’ meeting here today.
The Tourism Secretary led the immediate quality control of equipment such as elevators, snow thrower and other related equipment used in recreational or skiing activities at the resort. He directed the immediate repairs to the equipment, where needed, to get them ready for the start of the next winter season. He ordered the relevant agencies and officers to use the current phase of lean activity for repairing equipment and scaling up station facilities.
Sarmad Hafeez also led immediate action to revive Church Lift and Highland Park, two of the resort’s heritage sites. He also led the ski slope assignment using the current time for the upcoming winter season.
The tourism secretary encouraged the relevant officers to work together to improve Gulmarg’s aesthetic appeal. He led the immediate repairs to the bowl entrance with stone pitching, display of welcome signs and signs. He also gave a presentation on scaling up the Gulmarg golf course for which he had delegated a special team from the RSGC. In addition, he also led the repairs of the Tangmarg-Gulmarg road which is usually damaged due to winter frost and snow.
Sarmad Hafeez also reviewed the vaccination process undertaken by the Department for stakeholders and led the coverage of all tourism actors, service providers and employees in the ongoing vaccination campaign. He has also led the conduct of capacity building workshops for service providers so that they can carry out their activities in the post COVID scenario.
