Star Wars Rebels actor wants to bring his Mandalorian persona to live-action

During the first two seasons of The Mandalorianaudiences got to see a number of beloved characters from animated projects spring into live action, with Kevin McKidd, who voiced Fenn Rau in star wars rebels, recently expressing interest in bringing his character to life for the series. McKidd wouldn’t be the first actor to voice a character for a Star Wars animated project and play them in a live-action experience, with Katee Sackhoff having played Bo-Katan Kryze in both animation and live-action, which could make such an opportunity even more possible. Season 3 of The Mandalorian is set to debut on Disney+ later this year.

On Twitter, one Star Wars fan commented, “Kevin McKidd needs to reprise his role as Fenn Rau in The Mandalorian S3,” with McKidd himself sharing the post and adding, “I agree!”

Despite his own enthusiasm, McKidd’s long-term responsibilities Grey’s Anatomy could make him unavailable for such an opportunity, but knowing that the actor himself is interested in the gig, the filmmakers could explore such narrative reveals for an upcoming adventure.

Although McKidd will not appear in the next season of The Mandaloriangiven how far, far the galaxy stretches, we can’t rule out an appearance in another corner of the franchise at some point.

While the current Star Wars television series, Star Wars: The Book of Boba Fettcould be coming to an end next month, there’s still plenty to look forward to from audiences later this year. Star Wars: Obi-Wan Kenobi and Star Wars: Andor both slated to debut on Disney+ in 2022, both of which take place between the prequel trilogy and the original Star Wars film trilogy. In addition, Star Wars: Ahsoka is set to begin filming this year, and while it likely won’t begin until 2023, the timeline of this series and its reported connection to the search for rebels‘ Ezra Bridger got to see a number of familiar characters rebels characters jumping into live action. Fans have already witnessed Rosario Dawson’s Ahsoka debut in season 2 of The Mandalorianwhile Natasha Liu Bordizzo has been confirmed to take on the role of Sabine Wren for the new project.
