Deadline exclusively reported that a third sonic the hedgehog the film has been confirmed by Paramount. The news of the third film comes ahead of the release of the second film, which will be released on April 8, 2022.

The cast will return in the sequel alongside Idris Elba, known for The dark tower and The Suicide Squad, who will provide the voice of Knuckles. The introduction of Knuckles in the second film will lead to the character getting his own spin-off series on Paramount Plus.

The first and second films are directed by Jeff Fowler, with the first film being his directorial debut. Currently, there is no confirmation on who will be returning for the third film, cast or crew, as details are scarce as the film is in early development.
