Creative director Pierpaolo Piccioli injects novelty into the perception of formal wear for men with Valentino’s fall 2021 collection

Valentino’s creative director, Pierpaolo Piccioli, continues to reinvent the aesthetic of the house while preserving its heritage. This time we see the evolution of formal wear for men in its fall 2021 collection.

Piccioli’s belief is that the nature of the male wardrobe must be versatile, nonconforming, and completely free from traditional concepts and evolve into a more expressive and romanticized concept of the modern gentleman: free, punk and subversive.

For fall 2021, we’ll see a prevalence of Valentino’s signature embroidery embellishments, tone-on-tone contrasts, as well as inspiration from the dominant urban culture that values identity and self-expression.

Valentino’s romance begins with tone-on-tone black and white contrasts with embroidered flowers as part of the formal costume. These raised embroidery extends over both formal and casual clothing, invoking a nuanced yet expressive look.

Always inspired by the beauty to be found in contrasts, the creations of tone-on-tone flowery flowers against solid colors, becoming the essential of the modern gentleman. Eye-catching and subversive, the signature Valentino Dark Blooming prints against black or white are a statement of independence from traditional preppy chic.

What’s preppy-chic without a pair of trusty kicks? A key element of this collection are the Valentino Garavani One Stud sneakers, which are inspired by urban culture. Upholstered in nappa leather, the Valentino Garavani One Stud Sneaker collection is true to the philosophy with its use of the iconic and oversized Roman Stud on the shoes, while the molded heel reinforces the spirit of the house by presenting patterns reminiscent of the Bugnato signature motif. Available in low and mid-high styles, the collection is also available in four colors: white, pastel gray, gray and red. It is currently available in stores.

Colors also play an important role for this collection. Colorful embroidered flowers are found among her casual pieces, including shirts, shorts and anoraks. Pair them with dress shirts and pants for a contrast.

Valentino’s iconic camouflage print now comes in a new multicolored variety that can be found on items like sweatshirts, windbreakers and the popular nylon backpack.

There’s also the seasonal white-on-white version of Valentino’s camouflage print as well as the use of striking red logos on crisp white pieces. Pair them with accessories like the Valentino Garavani Atelier bag and Valentino Garavani Atelier sneakers to instantly add street cred.

With a softer, more modern take on the cornerstones of men’s formal wear, this collection sees experimental expressiveness conveyed through the house’s consistently elegant craftsmanship – and we love it.
