Antique Boat Show, Father’s Day Cruise Come To MD Waters
MARYLAND – Summer activities are returning as the weather warms and restrictions ease. Whether you are a boat enthusiast, bird watcher, or history buff, Maryland has the event for you.

“Festival of old and classic boats
Wood and fiberglass classics, vintage racers and other antique and Chesapeake Bay-related boats return to the Chesapeake Bay Maritime Museum for the 33rd Antique and Classic Boat Festival. This year’s festival celebrates the theme of cruising the Chesapeake, with classically styled cabins and express cruisers and sport fishing boats expected, plus a full roster of boating history seminars. The festival brings together beautiful artists, craftsmen and sworn vendors, offering nautical and maritime themed items for the boat and the home. Leight Park Wade-In Festival
Immerse yourself in the summer season at this fun family festival at Leight Park Estuary Center. Start the day by rolling up your pant legs and wading through Otter Point Creek to measure water quality, as retired Maryland State Senator Bernie Fowler has done for 33 years with his ” sneaker index ”. Afternoon fun activities include free canoeing, live music, fun with water chemistry, live animals, a decoy carving demonstration, and more! $ 5 per car, prior reservation required. Whether you already recognize these friends from your adventures or are just starting to birdwatch around you, this is your chance to get inside information and fascinating facts about each of these species. Father’s Day Cruise on Wm. B. Tennison
Treat Dad to a unique Chesapeake event, a cruise taking in the sights and sounds of Solomon’s Harbor and the Patuxent River. Wm. B. Tennison is a nine log sailing bugeye hull converted to a motor boat. June 20, 4:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. Chesapeake Bay Maritime Museum in Solomons, Maryland. Regular hour-long river cruises are also available Wednesday through Sunday, May through October. More information and tickets.
Picnic by the water
The Chesapeake Bay watershed offers plenty of waterfront picnic spots. For a picnic with lots of friends and family, visit one of the stunning waterfront parks in the Chesapeake area, from Elk Neck State Park to Gloucester Point Beach Park. Many have picnic shelters with tables and grills that overlook the beautiful bay or one of its rivers. If you prefer a lakefront retreat, head to Bald Eagle State Park in Pennsylvania, Rocky Gap State Park in Maryland, or Bear Creek Lake State Park in Virginia. Looking for a more secluded picnic spot? Lay a blanket in the sand at Douglas Point on the Potomac, Myrtle Point Park on the Patuxent, or Powhatan State Park on the James.
